Goanna Park

A place for young people to grow, lead and belong.

A not-for-profit community campsite on the Arnhem Highway near Kakadu, 80 km east of Darwin — home to thousands of happy memories for Territory kids, schools and community groups.

More than a campsite

A community facility in the heart of the Territory

Goanna Park is an excellent place to camp that is central to the sights of Kakadu. It sits on 22 hectares of bushland on the Arnhem Highway, about an hour's drive from Darwin, with both camping and demountable rooms — making it ideal for group bookings, with plenty of room for tents and team-building activities.

The park is owned and looked after by the Junior Police Rangers Land Association (JPRLA). It is available to schools, sporting bodies, community organisations, charities and remote-area youth groups for recreation, training and sport.

Why it matters

Memories that last a lifetime

Since 1985, Goanna Park has given thousands of Territory children and young people a safe, supportive place to experience the bush, make friends and grow in confidence.

“One of the best camps I have ever been on. You meet so many lovely people from all over Australia and make lifelong friends. The kids have the time of their lives enjoying all the fun activities and adventures — and always leave with either a smile or a small tear in their eye after such a great experience. All the staff and volunteers on the camp are fantastic.”
